Arkansas Truckers Feeling The Pinch At The Pump

By: Import User
Updated: January 7, 2009
Arkansas truckers are calling on lawmakers to put a handle on skyrocketing gas prices. "I`d like to see a cap put on the fuel," says Rupert Halstead, an independent trucker from Russellville. "Bring it down like it used to be." Halstead says he pays about $700 a day to fill up his tank. He showed KARK 4 News fuel receipts from December 2003 where he paid $1.32 a gallon and February 2004, where he paid 20 cents more. "The last four months it`s really gone up and what that does is cut into everyone`s profits." Analysts say tight crude oil supplies is behind the higher-than-usual gas prices.
