The first planeload of Arkansas-based 39th Infantry Brigade soldiers is to leave for Iraq Saturday afternoon. The bridadier general for the unit says the soldiers will leave from the Alexandria, Louisiana, airport for the Middle East. The 39th has been training in Texas and Louisiana for the past four months. The soldiers held their "colors casing" ceremony at Fort Polk, Louisiana, in anticipation of the trip abroad. Brigadier General Ronald Chastain said Saturday morning that the troops are properly prepared and ready to move out. Dignitaries from Arkansas and military leaders were present for Saturday`s ceremony, and were to have lunch with the soldiers before returning later today to Little Rock Air Force Base.
