State Taxes Due Earlier This Year

By: Import User
Updated: January 7, 2009
Folks roughing out their federal income tax returns may want to pay attention to their state taxes, too. Arkansas individual income tax returns are due one month earlier this year -- meaning they are due the same day as the federal filing deadline of April 15th. Before this year, state returns were due May 15th. Corporate income tax returns are due two months earlier, on March 15th instead of May 15th. A new law passed by the state Legislature early last year, moved up the deadline for the Arkansas returns. State officials say the extra month will help them plan the state budget with greater accuracy, perhaps reducing the chance of budget cuts.
