Children found in 1/3 of homes with meth labs

New statistics from DEA show that 8,000 methamphetamine labs were shut down last year. 3,300 children were found in those homes.
Just today Benton police charged a couple with making methamphetamine in the presence of children.
A Pulaski county narcotics officer says he has seen a 7 year old helping his parents make meth. Lt. David Doty also found a 3 year old walking alone on a highway. The childs parents were a block away making meth.
Pulaski county now has a new policy where it now request DHS to take immediate custody of children inside a meth home. Before children could be placed with a close relative.
Arkansas also recently passed a law which adds 10 years to any drug sentence when meth is made in the presence of a minor.
