A man tried for the fourth time in the
shooting death of a man in Pine Bluff 2000 was convicted of
manslaughter and drew a sentence of ten years in prison.
Twenty-three-year-old Fred Minor Junior was charged with
first-degree murder in the shooting death of 28-year-old Jeffrey
Moorehead. The jury reached its verdict on the lesser offense late
Tuesday night.
Minor was convicted in 2001 and sentenced to 15 years in prison
but that conviction was overturned by the Arkansas Supreme Court.
The court said Circuit Judge Berlin Jones should have given the
jury instructions on the manslaughter charge.
A jury deadlocked in a retrial in July and in November Jones
declared another mistrial before testimony began.
Minor claimed he`d been threatened by Moorehead.
