Little Rock police say an officer shot and wounded a burglary suspect who pointed a screwdriver at the officer during a foot chase. The suspect, 39-year-old Mark Harris of Little Rock, is accused of first shooting at a homeowner during the burglary yesterday evening. Little Rock police spokesman Sergeant Terry Hastings says the homeowner chased the suspect, who shot at him. Officer David Green responded and pursued Harris, who dropped the gun during the chase. The gun was found later. Hastings said Green told Harris to drop his weapon. He said Harris held on to the screwdriver, and pointed it at the officer, who fired and hit Harris in the left leg. Harris was taken to a hospital for treatment. Hastings said Harris will be formally charged after he is discharged from the hospital. Green was placed on administrative leave with pay.
