NLR Man Arrested for Dogfighting

A North Little Rock man has been taken into custody after a sheriff`s deputy saw two pitbulls fighting on his property Saturday afternoon. Lamonte J. Young, 31, was charged with 7 counts of animal cruelty and one count of dog fighting. He is being held in the Pulaski County Jail on $4,000 bond. The sheriff`s office tells KARK 4 News a deputy was checking on a neighbor`s house when he heard dogs barking in a nearby yard. When the deputy looked over the fence, he saw two pitbulls fighting. Officials say 16 dogs were in the yard. Most of the animals were malnurished and injured. Two carcasses were also found on the property. Pulaski County Animal Services took the animals away and placed them in the North Little Rock Shelter for the weekend.
