Updated: January 7, 2009
Cutbacks in federal Small Business Administration funding threaten Arkansas entrepreneurs, according to bank officers and others. They made the statements today at a field hearing held by U-S Senator Mark Pryor, a member of the Senate Small Business Committee. Pryor held the hearing to learn how a nearly 25 percent cut over the last four year`s in the S-B-A`s budget have affected Arkansas businesses. The Bush administration is proposing an additional 120 (m) million dollars in cuts for the agency in its latest budget plan. Pryor says he will fight to fully fund S-B-A programs. The cuts have led to caps on some loan programs and elimination of other loan programs, and consolidation of some district office functions. Posted by Mike Hellgren
