breaking news
Late last month, the governor granted clemency to confessed Saline county murderer Don Jeffers. Jeffers used his own prosthetic leg to beat William Hash to death in a Bryant mobile home park. Today a suit filed by the Saline county prosecutor and Hash`s family accuses the governor of breaking the law in granting the clemency. Prosecutor Robert Herzfeld says the governor missed deadlines in filing his order and failed to provide reasons for the clemency. The governor says he has faith in the clemency system but realizes that it is imperfect because it`s run by people and people are imperfect. He also says Herzfeld is just after publicity.
