Jefferson County And Pine Bluff Lost A Prisoner

Updated: January 7, 2009
Pine Bluff and Jefferson County authorities are looking for a prisoner they misplaced in a series of jail transfers. Fred McCoy, age 25, is supposed to be in state prison for domestic battery, but he was moved around last year because of a lack of room. He was supposed to appear in Jefferson County District Court on separate misdemeanor charges last September. Authorities lost track of him after that. A Pine Bluff police officer signed McCoy out of Jefferson County jail on September 16th. Correction Department spokeswoman Dina Tyler says he may have been let go after the hearing by mistake. Tyler said mistakes like this are not common, but they DO happen because there are so many prisoners being transferred for lack of room.
