Arkansas Bears Brunt Of Snow Storm

Updated: January 7, 2009
Snow stopped falling early Sunday morning in Arkansas and the National Weather Service isn`t expecting any more for awhile. But icy patches on an overpass in Texarkana caused a seven-car pileup and one fatality this morning. A woman was killed when cars skidded on the ice on the Tennessee Road Overpass in Texarkana and she got out of the vehicle and was struck by another car. Her name was not immediately available. Two others were injured and taken to a hospital. The accident happened about 5:50 this morning on Loop 245 that winds around the city. Meanwhile, forecasters say the storm system is well out of the state and all weather watches and advisories have expired. Western Arkansas saw the greatest accumulations overnight with about five inches in Mount Ida. In other places, Saline, Garland, Dallas and Montgomery counties saw about four inches or more, Hot Spring and Clark Counties recorded up to three inches, and Grant County got about two inches.
