Updated: January 7, 2009
Arkansan Wesley Clark endorsed his former rival John Kerry of Massachusetts today at a rally in Madison, Wisconsin. Kerry greeted Clark on stage by saluting the former Army general and Clark raised Kerry`s hand over their heads. Kerry is a former Navy lieutenant who was a decorated Vietnam War veteran. Clark, also a decorated Vietnam veteran, turned to front-runner Kerry and called him, "Our friend, our leader and the next president of the United States." Using an old military analogy for his political endorsement, Clark said to Kerry, "Sir, requesting permission to come aboard; the Army`s here." Clark withdrew from the presidential primary race on Wednesday in Little Rock.
