Updated: January 7, 2009
The former chief financial officer of the Arkansas Local Police and Fire Retirement System faces a charge of theft by deception. Candyce Campbell is charged in the theft of nearly 60-thousand dollars paid as a benefit for a retired officer and his wife after they died. The 45-year-old suspect was released without bond after agreeing to attend her next court date on May 10th. She was fired in October after working for the retirement system for 14 years. The firing was NOT related to the case. According to an affidavit, Campbell stole about three years` worth of monthly checks intended for former North Little Rock office R-L Stinnett. Stinnett died in 1994, and his wife died in 2000. The account was closed after Clara Stinnett died, but was reactivated a month later. Posted by Mike Hellgren
