Updated: January 7, 2009
A prison official says former state senator Nick Wilson of Pocahontas is back in Arkansas after serving time in federal prison on a corruption conviction. A federal Bureau of Prisons spokeswoman says Wilson is living in a halfway house the bureau operates in the state. Tracy Ennen says regulations do NOT allow her to name the city. Wilson was sentenced to nearly six years in prison after he was convicted of tax evasion and conspiracy in 1999 and pleaded guilty to a racketeering charge in 2000. He was accused in three schemes to bilk money from state programs benefiting children and injured school workers. Wilson was also ordered to pay more than one (m) million dollars in fines and restitution. He served 29 years in the state Senate. Wilson served the bulk of his sentence at a federal prison in Florida. Posted by Mike Hellgren
