Phoenix, Arizona is cleaning up today after a massive dust storm rolled through the so-called "valley of the sun" Tuesday night.

The cloud of heavy dust and sand was estimated to be about 50 miles wide, pushed by near hurricane force winds.

Service at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport was halted for about an hour until the winds died and the dust settled.

The storm, which blew in from the Tucson area, also caused a traffic nightmare and cut power to thousands.
