Arkansan Wesley Clark`s presidential
campaign defends its decision to focus on state primaries in the
South and Southwest.
Continuing his selective campaigning, Clark is skipping a caucus
in Michigan tomorrow to have a solid week of campaigning in
Tennessee for a crucial showdown Tuesday against his closest rival
in the delegate count and the only other Southerner in the race,
North Carolina Senator John Edwards.
Clark spokesman Bill Buck says Clark has no regrets about where
he`s decided to campaign.
He says it was part of Clark`s national campaign strategy, laid
out early on, that has kept the retired general from competing in
certain places.
On Tuesday, Clark ended up winning Oklahoma by less than one
percent of the vote over Edwards. Clark finished second in Arizona,
New Mexico and North Dakota to Senator John Kerry of Massachusetts
and finished fourth in South Carolina, far behind Edwards.
