Nothing Says I Love You Like an Acre on the Moon

By now, plenty of flower and candy shops are preparing for the hoards of Valentine`s gifts they`ll have to deliver in about a week. But if you`re sick of the traditional red roses, companies like Lunarestates.com and Lunarlandowner.com are selling acres of land on the moon. They`ll cost you about $29.99. "I don`t know if that`s something I would really love. It`s a great deal for him," said Chelle Heafner. Or maybe your sweetheart would enjoy naming her own star...that`s for sale too. "I had enough trouble naming my children," said Kathy McAlister. That`ll run you about $26, a lot less than buying your loved one a fancy title, like Duke So-and-so, or Lady Such-and-Such. Such royalty will cost you a few hundred pounds in the UK. "That would be pretty good, cause he`s already Prince Charming," McAlister said of her husband, Lou. "You`d have to address me that way the whole day. Duchess of Whatever," Heafner said. The Duchess of Whatever deserves the rose that never dies. Jones and Son Jewelry is selling roses dipped in 24 carat gold or lacquered, then hand-etched in gold. "Whoever you give it to, what makes it special, they`ll be thinking about you in years to come cause they can place it on the mantle or the vase you give them," said Darrow Jones. With as much money as we spend on Valentine`s Day every year, many of us aren`t even sure if we like the day. Sixty-one percent of shoppers surveyed said they didn`t have a valentine, according to a poll done for General Growth Properties. Eleven percent joke they`re too bitter to even decide if they like Valentine`s Day. And 19% of shoppers between 35 and 44 years old said they`d rather avoid the day altogether. And since Valentine`s Day falls on a Saturday, some people could be celebrating it for two or three days, including the Thursday and Friday that falls before. So whether you pick time-honored classics, or lunar adventures, they`ll all have the same "I Love You" meaning.
