State Revenues Down : Budget Cuts May Be Needed

The state collected 13-point-seven (m)
million dollars more in taxes in January than a year ago but fell
nine-point-six (m) million dollars below the forecast for the
month.
The state`s fiscal office reports tax collections totaled 411
(m) million dollars last month, but were two-point-three percent
below forecast. Officials say income tax collections are below
forecast.
If collections don`t soon meet projected revenue, officials say
the state could have to enact budget cuts.
