Homeland Security Undersecretary Asa
Hutchinson says a new security system to keep dangerous passengers
off airplanes still needs to be tested.
Speaking in North Little Rock, Hutchinson said the system to
identify suspected terrorists and violent criminals is still being
refined.
The government also is working with privacy groups to make sure
the system does NOT infringe on individual rights.
The system will use corporate and government data to place
people in one of three color-coded groups: red for those who pose a
potential terrorism risk, yellow for those whose background raises
questions and green for those determined to pose no risk. Red
passengers will NOT allowed to fly and those in the yellow
classification will face additional screening.
Hutchinson earlier this week said he wants the new computer
screening system -- known as CAPPS Two -- to be tested by the
spring. He says the government will order airlines to share
information on their passengers.
