Asa Hutchinson is scheduled to speak
to the North Little Rock Chamber of Commerce this evening at Alltel
Arena.
Hutchinson -- the former Republican congressman from northwest
Arkansas -- is now undersecretary for Homeland Security in the Bush
administration.
Earlier this week, he said a government plan to check all
airline passengers` backgrounds before they board a plane could be
implemented by this summer.
He said it`s so urgent that the government will order airlines
to provide background information on their customers to test the
program.
Hutchinson said he wants to begin testing this spring. His
spokesman, Dennis Murphy, said the plan could be fully operational
by summer.
