Updated: January 7, 2009
The Arkansas Department of Health has 5,800 flu vaccine doses available after getting last week`s 3,000 dose shipment. So far, the department has given one-point-eight million doses, up from the one-point-two to one-point-four million typically given during a flu season. Doctor Sandra Snow of the Health Department says the flu virus quieted down considerably after the holiday season. The department does NOT expect to receive any more vaccines this flu season, which ends in March. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention now lists Arkansas flu levels as sporadic, meaning few cases are being seen around the state.
