For some, the bill goes too far, and for others not far enough, but for the Arkansas Legislature it`s history nonetheless-- a consolidation bill is heading to the desk of Governor Mike Huckabee.
House Bill 1109 (sponsored by Rep. Will Bond, Democrat-- Jacksonville) focuses on administrative consolidation and targets school districts with less than 350 students.
It`s still unclear what Governor Huckabee plans to do with the bill, but his views on HB 1109 are no secret. Earlier in the special session, he said the 350-student cutoff doesn`t go far enough for real reforms.
