Arkansas Fishing Report: July 1-4

Right now, I've got some good night fishing going on at Lake Barnett. It's located up Highway 5 by Romance. Go out there and throw you a plastic worm to the bank, but they're only catching these fish at night. But my buddy Alan Stewart went up there and caught 80 in one night so you go up there and have a real good time.
Lake Conway: bass fishing, brim fishing and cat fishing are real good right now. The bass are hitting on plastic worms; the catfish, they're hitting on trotlines with cut bait and if you want to fish off the bank, they're hitting night crawlers. Crappie fish is real slow right now. Brim fish are hitting on wax worms and crickets.
My hot spot right now is going to be Little Red River, where you can put my lure of the week to good use. It's a rooster tail, in-line spinner with a power bait to hide the hook. Put you a split shot about a foot up and you're going to catch a lot of trout.
On a serious note, about 100 Arkansans who have been deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan since 9/11 have given the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. On October 29, I'm going to host the first ever Fish for the Fallen Fishing Tournament at Greers Ferry. Stay tuned -- every week, I'm going to have some details about it. Look for the fishing report under the sports section here at ArkansasMatters.com, or Facebook me with any questions.
Hey, this is Big Sarge. I'll see you next week.
