Jury selection is scheduled to begin Tuesday
in federal court Little Rock in the trial of a lawyer from
Pocahontas accused of mailing a poisonous snake.
Bob Sam Castleman and his son, Robert Jerrod Castleman, both of
Pocahontas, were each indicted for mailing a threatening
communication to Albert Coy Staton. Police said the families had an
ongoing dispute.
Staton`s wife opened the parcel with the copperhead but was not
hurt. A Randolph County sheriff`s deputy shot the three-foot snake.
Opening statements could be this afternoon.
The indictment was handed up last summer, and authorities say
the snake was mailed in September 2002.
