A single-engine airplane that crashed January fifth near Norphlet, killing one of the two people aboard, went down as its pilot attempted an emergency landing in a field. That`s from a preliminary report filed by the National Transportation Safety board. The board said the Cessna 182-R-G was about eleven miles northeast of the El Dorado airport when it developed problems and its pilot tried to land it. The crash killed 39-year-old passenger Jonathan M. Hughes Junior of El Dorado, while pilot Glenn Thweatt of New York was taken to the Medical Center of South Arkansas at El Dorado, where he was listed this week in fair condition.
