Updated: January 7, 2009
Representative Marion Berry issued a statement today saying that the Bush administration`s request for one billion dollars to fund a base on the moon is ill-timed. Berry said he doesn`t question the mission`s ambition, but that right now it`s more important to take care of a seven and a half billion dollar shortfall in public school funding. Berry said the most significant contribution to the space program would be well-educated future astronauts. He said as of right now, American children`s math and science skills lag behind other countries. Posted by Mike Hellgren
