Burger King is the latest fast-food chain to appeal to the lo-carb dieter. It is offering a variety of salads and whoopers with a knife and fork replacing the bread. 32 million Americans are now on some form of a lo-carb diet. Izzy`s in West Little Rock placed a special section in its menu in October. "I knew so many people that were on the Atkins diet, the zone, the south beach diet. They were going to the grocery store buying all of the food to take home. From a business stand point I thought we need to create that kind of consistency for the restuarant," said Izzy`s owner Heather Isbell. Subway now offers a lo-carb wrap. Back yard burgers now has a lo-carb burger. It is a patty between two pieces of lettuce. Managers say it began as a test market idea at 5 Memphis locations. But soon there were complaints at other locations that did not offer it.
