A jury in Stuttgart has returned guilty verdicts against two men accused in a killing in 2002. Jerry Herron and Torry Timmons were convicted in the shooting death of Landers Stiggers the Third in February 2002. Herron was found guilty of first-degree murder and sentenced to life prison. Timmons was convicted of second-degree murder and sentenced to 20 years in state prison. The jury handed down the verdicts Saturday night. Herron and Timmons each had been charged with capital murder. Jurors deliberated three-and-one-half hours before returning the guilty verdicts and took about 30 minutes more to determine sentencing.
