The Pulaski County Election Commission wants
state monitors to oversee coming elections in the county, saying
members aren`t satisfied that County-Circuit Clerk Carolyn Staley
can run the election without a repeat of massive voter problems.
Prosecutor Larry Jegley had requested the state monitors and the
commission on Tuesday approved the request.
After voters reported problems, Jegley asked for the grand jury.
The panel convened in January and recommended in November that
Staley be removed. A hearing on throwing her out of office is set
for March 30.
The commissioners want the state Board of Election Commissioners
to observe voting and early voting in Maumelle`s February tenth
special sales tax election and the entire voting process for the
May 18th primary election, including absentee voting.
