Updated: January 7, 2009
Tennessee`s new lottery will launch three weeks earlier than expected. Lottery C-E-O Rebecca Paul today announced the instant winner tickets will go on sale January 20th at about three-thousand retailers. Those scratch-off tickets will be followed in 60 days by on-line games. Paul announced the start date this afternoon, saying the earlier beginning should produce between 15 (m) million and 20 (m) million extra dollars. The lottery board was named June 30th by Governor Bredesen and Paul was hired in early September. Tennessee voters approved a lottery to fund college scholarships, elementary through high school building construction -and- early education initiatives in November 2000. The Legislature`s bill establishing the lottery was signed into law in June. Posted by Mike Hellgren
