Garvan Gardens Receives $1 Million

The University of Arkansas says Garvan Woodland Gardens in Hot Springs will be getting a one million dollar donation to help build a chapel at the botanic garden. The gift is from John Ed and Isabel Anthony of Hot Springs. The 3,400 square foot chapel will feature a 57 foot high roof and use native Arkansas stone and Southern yellow pine. The chapel will seat 160 and be available for private functions. John Ed Anthony is a 1961 graduate of the university. He has been president of Anthony Timberlands Incorporated. for 42 years. Isabel Anthony studied graphic design and art history at Texas and Southern Methodist University. The botanical garden is on a 210 acre wooded peninsula that extends into Lake Hamilton.
