Local Pharmacists Outraged Over Mislabeled Drug

The Arkansas Pharmacists Association is in an uproar over the mislabeling of a prescription drug by an online drug seller. Pill-Doctor.com is selling Amaryl as an anti-sleep agent. But the drug is used to lower blood sugar in hyperglycemic patients. "I was a little puzzled by this so I clicked on it and soon saw that they had the info completely mislabled," said John Kirtley, a pharmacist with Tanglewood Drug Store. Kirtley contacted the company several times, but was unable to speak to a supervisor. He then sent a letter to the Food and Drug Administration. Mark Riley, vice president of the Arkansas Pharmacist Association, sent a letter to the State Pharmacy Board after an interview with KARK 4 News. Experts recommend buying drugs from online retailers approved by the FDA. For a complete list, go to www.fda.gov.
