Arkansans Flock To Drug Stores As Flu Shots Dwindle

By: Import User
Updated: January 7, 2009
The dwindling supply of flu vaccines caused scores of ailing Arkansans to head to local drug stores. Tanglewood Drug Stores in Little Rock had to increase orders of over-the- counter cold and flu medicines as well as presciptions. "We have seen a ton of people coming in and looking for whatever will help them with the symptoms they`re having," says John Kirtly, a Tanglewood pharmacist. Experts say this is worst flu season in years, but so far have been unable to cite a cause. Just this week, the Center for Disease Control sent 880 flu vaccines to Arkansas after supplies began to dwindle. However, the Health Department is recommending other treatments such as flu mists. The mists must be used when you are healthy. The flu virus has already killed three people in Arkansas.
