Wesley Clark`s campaign is downplaying
former Vice President Al Gore`s endorsement of the man Clark is
chasing in the polls, Howard Dean.
But others say the endorsement is impossible to dismiss. Former
New York Mayor Ed Koch says the move sealed the nomination for
Dean.
Koch also says the nomination -- quote -- "dooms the Democratic
Party`s efforts to unseat George Bush."
Clark spokesman Matt Bennett says because Clark`s career has
been as a military commander and not a politician, the campaign is
NOT dependent on the input of career politicians like Gore.
But there are a couple of endorsements that Bennett said are
worth coveting: former President Bill Clinton and his wife, Senator
Hillary Rodham Clinton. They are still the party`s most
high-profile members and have withheld their blessings.
