State Attorney General Wants More Money For Bad Bullet-Resistant Vests

Attorney General Mike Beebe says he has
asked a Michigan maker of bullet-resistant vests for an additional
$246,000 refund, for "defective" vests the company
supplied state prison guards.
Last month, Beebe asked Second Chance Body Armor Incorporated to
repay $200,000 to the state for 218 bullet-resistant
vests bought by the Arkansas State Police and state Capitol Police.
Beebe`s latest request asks that Second Chance refund the state
Department of Community Correction for the 332 vests the department
purchased over the last two years.
The company notified police agencies that the vests were
defective and has offered to change parts on the vests or give
trade-in discounts or a warranty adjustment on a different model
vest.
But Beebe said those offers weren`t good enough. He also says
the Justice Department is investigating.
