Updated: January 7, 2009
Pine Bluff Police Department may soon see staff reductions because of city budget cuts. Mayor Dutch King`s preliminary 2004 Budget calls for the removal of 16 police officers. If approved, that would save the city $570,000 in salaries. Mayor King wants to cut $2.2 million from the city`s budget, bringing total expenses to $21.5 million. Firefighters, court workers and a building inspector may also face the ax. In all, 27 city workers could lose their jobs. City Council gets final approval on the budget. Members plan a series of meetings with city department heads.
