Updated: January 7, 2009
Officials say a man who died in a Sebastian County jail cell had fought with correction officers and with other inmates. Family and friends of the dead man want to know more about what happened. Forty-seven-year-old Hyron tucker was found dead in his cell on Friday evening. Autopsy results are pending. Tucker had been arrested a week ago on misdemeanor warrants. Jailers said they had to move him to different cells due to behavior problems. He died in a cell where he`d been alone for several days. Arkansas State Police investigator Mitch Carolan says videotape of a scuffle between jailers and Tucker shows Tucker was aggressive. Carolan says the only wound on Tucker`s body was a scrape on his knee. Carolan says the death appears to be from natural causes. Tucker`s widow, Shashawn Tucker, says her husband was not prone to starting fights and wanted people to be is friends.
