A Nevada truck driver has been released on five-thousand dollars bond after appearing on court to face a charge of leaving the scene of a fatal accident. Gary Torrey of Sparks, Nevada, appeared in court today in Nevada County, Arkansas. The 49-year-old Torry was arrested Saturday in Saint Mary`s, Missouri. The arrest came after authorities traced a truck that reportedly struck and killed 25-year-old Melissa Patterson during the pre-dawn hours Saturday. Patterson`s body was found next to the eastbound exit ramp at Interstate 30`s intersection with U-S 371. A news release Saturday from the office of Prescott Police Chief Sam Reeder said a witness was found who had seen a tractor-trailer rig that showed evidence it had struck somebody, and the witness had talked to the truck`s driver. Information from the witness allowed investigators to trace the truck, and it was located that afternoon at a truck stop in Saint Mary`s. Torrey was returned to Nevada County on Wednesday for his court appearance. In addition to setting bond, a judge also set a trial date for January 12th. Posted by Mike Hellgren
