Flu Season hits early in Arkansas

By: Import User
Updated: January 7, 2009
The Arkansas Health Department says this is the earliest onset of the influenza virus in 25 years. Right now 32 out of 75 counties are reporting patients with flu like symptoms. Three of those counties including Pulaski have confirmed cases of the virus. Usually, doctors don`t see this kind of outbreak until January. Making matters worse, health department officials say the vaccine is not an exact match to the current strain of the virus. Doctors still encourage patients to get the flu shot, because it is still the best protection available.
