Drug Courts: Tackling Prison Overcrowding and Addiction

It`s an idea that could address two widespread problems.
Drug courts rethink the way drug abusers go through the legal process, sending them through treatment instead of into prison.
Not all offenders qualify for drug courts, but those who do spend at least a year in treatment.
Courts cost about $130,000 to run, but supporters say they`d save even more, reducing the number of broken homes, cleaning up addictions, and clearing up the prison system.
