A ninth-grade basketball player collapsed and died during practice Tuesday afternoon at North Little Rock High School. Fifteen-year-old Sam Urton collapsed on the bench during a break in a workout. School spokeswoman Shara Brazear said Urton and the others players had just taken a water break. The other players returned to the court. A coach asked if Urton was O-K and he went limp. Coaches called an ambulance and the youth was pronounced dead at a hospital. The teenager had passed a physical, and Brazear said the workout wasn`t strenuous. North Little Rock superintendent James Smith said extra counselors would be on hand Wednesday. The death occurred at the school`s east campus, for students in grades nine and ten.
