Paying the Price for Prescription Drugs: Is Relief on the Way?

By: Import User
Updated: January 7, 2009
Pharmacist Scott Polk has worked behind the counter at Chenal Pharmacy for thirteen years, but he`s on the frontlines of a war that seems to have no end. He says the complaints don`t stop either, especially when it comes to the cost of prescription drugs. As costs rise, Arkansans are trying to make pills more affordable. It`s the focus of a new state subcommittee, which is co-chaired by State Representative Barbara King (D-Helena). "Medicaid is escalating and the biggest factor in that is prescription drugs," she says. As the subcommittee works to deal with the problem, Arkansans are dealing in their own way-- heading on-line and across the border to Canada for cheaper drugs.
