Updated: January 7, 2009
Pine Bluff police will begin enforcing a new city ordinance that penalizes property owners for false alarm calls. The city council approved the ordinance September Second. It requires property owners or lease holders to have a permit for the installation of any alarm on their property and levies fines for false alarm calls. A violation of the ordinance is a misdemeanor. The department says officers will begin enforcing the ordinance December First. The new rule allows for these fines: --25 dollars per false alarm call after the fourth false alarm within a month. --25 dollars per false alarm on the seventh through the 15th false alarm within the year. --50 dollars per false alarm for the 16th through the 30th false alarm within the year. --100 dollars per false alarm for the 31st or greater false alarm within the year.
