100 soldiers from Company A, 875th Engineer Battalion of the Arkansas Army National Guard are scheduled to return home tomorrow. A homecoming ceremony is scheduled for 10 a.m. at the armory in Jonesboro. The company was activated March 27th, trained two months for combat, but then was reassigned to support homeland security -- a mission that took the soldiers to the Umatilla Chemical Depot in Hermiston, Oregon. In all, about 4,200 soldiers and airmen from the Arkansas National Guard are now on active duty in the United States, Cuba, Kosovo, Iraq and Afghanistan.
