breaking news
Among Arkansas-made potpourri, candies and
cookies, rubber Arkansas Razorback hog snouts were the hottest
items when the state Capitol Gift Shop reopened today.
The shop closed in January when Gifts of Arkansas, a private
Little Rock company that leased the space for years, chose not to
renew its contract.
Secretary of State Charlie Daniels` office put out a request for
prospective new tenants but drew no bids. So Daniels` office began
making preparations to operate and reopen the shop.
Items for sale include Aromatique potpourri and scented candles
made in Heber Springs, Juanita`s peanut brittle from Arkadelphia,
York pecans from Atkins, and Brent and Sam`s cookies made in North
Little Rock.
The gift shop also features a variety of other gifts for sale,
from T-shirts, books, coffee mugs and crystal and glass figurines
to the rubber hog snouts.
