Fire Safety Checks: Up to the Test?

By: Import User
Updated: January 7, 2009
As the weather gets cooler, the home fire season heats up. We teamed up with the Benton Fire Marshal to see how prepared people really are. We checked for overloaded outlets, smoke alarms on each floor (that are checked monthly), a fire extinguisher near the kitchen, and a safety plan in place. From Benton to Bryant to Little Rock and further north, we found the same disturbing results: people without smoke alarms-- or if they did have alarms, they didn`t test them. Fire safety experts say now is the time to do your own test. If you`d like help or need more information, just call your local fire department.
