An elderly couple was beaten and tied up after a man broke into their Pine Bluff home. Police say 84-year-old Sam Owney and 72-year-old Willie James were injured by a brick-wielding man who stole their car. According to officers, James said she heard a knock at their front door Friday night but didn`t open the door. About an hour later, she said she heard a loud noise and the front door came open. Owney said a man came through the door, ran toward him and started beating him with a brick. He said the man told them to give him their money and pocket book. He also said the man beat them for a while, then tied them both up with clothes from their closet. Owney said the couple was tied up for about a half-hour, until James was able to free herself and call for help. The couple`s Cadillac was later found elsewhere in the city.
