breaking news
You expect to see coupons for paper towels and sandwich meat in the Sunday paper, but what about fluoridated bottled water?
Dannon is now selling such an item called "Fluoride to Go," and dental experts in Arkansas say it`s just the kind of thing that could improve oral health statewide. Though Arkansas` campaign to fluoridate water systems is 52 years old, only 62 percent of the state has access to a system in the program. Early in life fluoride binds to enamel, making teeth harder and more resistant to decay. As an adult, when a drink of fluoridated water washes over teeth it can actually work to correct early-stage decay. Dentists say having access to fluoridated bottled water could be an important cavity-fighting tool in places without it in tap water.
One-fifth of the state`s adult population has lost all of their natural teeth.
