Wynne Gets New Plant

Updated: January 7, 2009
A Japanese company announced today it will build a new auto parts plant at Wynne -- initially investing $15 million and eventually creating about 250 jobs in east Arkansas. Wynne beat out Brownsville, Tennessee, in the months-long search by Sakae Riken Kogyo Company of Japan for a plant site. The Eakas Arkansas plant will be the company`s second factory in North America, joining Eakas Corporation in Peru, Illinois. The plant will bring much needed jobs to the historically poor Mississippi River Delta region. Eakas Arkansas will make rearview mirrors, door handles and other component parts, with first production targeted for March 2005. Governor Huckabee was on hand for today`s announcement and said the word is getting out about the business climate in Arkansas. Posted by Mike Hellgren
