Clark Bows Out of Iowa

The Iowa caucuses kick off the presidential election season, but Wesley Clark`s campaign is turning its attention elsewhere. "Caucuses are about organizing and you`ve got a whole bevy of candidates," explains the Clark campaign`s Jeff Dailey. Candidates like Howard Dean have been campaigning for months. Congressman Dick Gephardt, who ran for president back in 1988, has been campaigning in Iowa for years. UALR political science professor Dr. Art English says bypassing Iowa could pay off. "It`s not a bad strategic decision. If he doesn`t do well, he can always say, `I started late. I couldn`t spend a lot of time there, but as soon as people get to nkow my name, I`ll do fine.`" The Clark campaign hopes to finish third or fourth in New Hampshire (where three candidates are from neighboring states) and then challenge for the lead after that.
